Weather forecast for today

Fresh to strong south to southwesterly winds, occasionally up to gale force on high ground at first. Winds will moderate progressively in the afternoon. Mainly cloudy with occasional squally showers and a few thunderstorms. Showers will ease off gradually later. Seas will be rough with swells.


Outlook : The weather will remain unsettled on Monday and Tuesday. Showers will be heavy at times. Showers will ease off and the weather will improve in the middle and latter parts of this week.

General Situation:

Tropical Cyclone Wutip will move across inland Guangdong and weaken gradually today. Under the influence of its associated rainbands, there will be heavy squally showers and thunderstorms over the coast of southern China. It will be windy with rough seas and swells. Wutip will further weaken later today. However, under the influence of an active southwesterly airstream, there will still be occasional heavy showers and squally thunderstorms over Guangdong early this week. An anticyclone aloft is expected to strengthen gradually in the middle and latter parts of this week. The weather over Guangdong will improve and it will be hot.

Strong winds in all areas.

Weather situation:

At 10 a.m., Tropical Depression Wutip with maximum
sustained winds of about 55 kilometres per hour near its
centre was located at 24.6 degrees north, 112.7 degrees
east. It is forecast to move northeast at about 38
kilometres per hour crossing inland Guangdong.

South to southwest force 5 to 6, force 7 at first.
Occasional heavy squally showers and thunderstorms.
Moderate to rough seas.
